CUBE Editor Hybrid SLT 400X

The CUBE Editor Hybrid SLT 400X is one of five models in the ‘Editor’ range signaling a new era for CUBE.

With beautiful aesthetics, the Hybrid SLT 400X is a super agile, lightweight eBike with the aim of improving urban mobility. As well as high quality components, it features the new, powerful SX 55Nm motor from Bosch. Total bike weight is amazingly light at just 17.7kg (excluding pedals).

The SLT model moves up in specification from the 8-speed SLX and offers 11-speed Shimano Alfine hub gearing plus Gates Carbon Drive. In addition, there’s a tyre upgrade to Schwalbe Marathon Efficiency, RaceGuard, 50-622 as well as higher spec brakes.

Sporty and Elegant

At first glance, the CUBE Editor Hybrid SLT 400X is both sporty and elegant. The clean lines of the aluminium frame are more reminiscent of a gravel bike than a city ebike. Its sharp looks are not only due to the beautiful design of the diamond frame, but to the way all cables neatly disappear into the headset.

When muscle power and electric support work in conjunction, you get top performance exactly when you need it. Also, Bosch’s Performance Line SX is a sporty drive unit that is lighter and more compact than all their other drives.

Pedal faster, pick up speed even faster: The Performance Line SX works at least as hard as you do. It has a reduced pedal resistance of more than 50 percent compared to the Performance Line CX. Also, it has a narrower design of the cranks and an almost silent motor, and fits seamlessly with the CUBE Editor Hybrid SLT.

At around just 2kg, the Performance Line SX is Bosch’s lightest drive with the highest power density. Likewise, it reduces the total weight of your eBike, delivers greater agility and is ideal for fans of a sporty riding style. In addition, the compact drive unit disappears elegantly into the crank area so it looks like a conventional bike.

The CUBE Editor Hybrid SLT 400X Features the Latest Bosch Technology

Bosch’s new SMART SYSTEM features on the Editor Hybrid SLT 400X, with a Bosch System Control Display on the top tube. It’s minimalist in nature, providing battery level information and level of assist. The Bosch Mini Remote on the left of the bars allows the rider to change these levels easily at the press of a button.

Hub Gearing, Gates Carbon Drive and High Level Performance

The Editor SLT 400X model is one of FIVE available variants within the Editor range. All Editors use the same frame and Bosch technology, but differ in componentry.

The renowned Shimano Alfine 11-speed hub gearing offers lower maintenance to the user and a quieter running drivetrain. The absence of chain movement on a rear sprocket appeals to many and makes for a simpler mode of operation. It’s wide range of gears make the bike a superb hill climber as well as being easy to run on the flat.

In addition, the Shimano Alfine trigger shifter rather than a twist shift arrangement also appeals to many.

The Gates Carbon Drive is a tough, resilient and almost bomb proof belt requiring almost zero maintenance. Occasional removal of soil and debris with a stiff brush is all that’s required. It’s almost silent gear changes are a real joy.

A superlite Aluminium frame forms the base of the SLT 400X. Carbon forks ensure both a nimble and lightweight nature to this fine specimen. The Shimano CUES derailleur is robust and silky smooth, whilst a really nice set of Shimano Deore BR-M6000 hydraulic disk brakes provide powerful effective braking when required.

Furthermore, the Schwalbe Marathon Efficiency tyres with RaceGuard provide puncture protection, exceptional grip, traction and low roll resistance on a multitude of surfaces. In addition, this beauty is equally at home in the urban jungle as it is on canal towpaths, fire tracks in the forest and the like.

How do I measure my height?

With your shoes off, stand upright against a wall, with your shoulders back and legs together. Use a pencil to make a small mark on the wall above your head (make sure you hold the pencil parallel to the floor). Then measure from the floor to your mark, in centimetres or feet and inches.

How do I measure my inside leg length?

With your shoes off, stand upright with your back against a wall. Place a book/ruler between your legs, level with your crotch. Then measure from the floor to the top of the book/ruler, in centimetres or feet and inches (it’s easier if a friend helps).

Q & A

Do all brands of ebike use the same unit of measurement?

No. Most brands show sizing in centimetres, however some use a S/M/L system, and others use inches. The table above includes all of these variations to help you find the right size.

Which size should I go for if I'm in between those listed?

If your measurements suggest that you have a choice of two different sizes, then in the end it’s a personal choice. Here are some rules of thumb to consider: Touring/Trekking ebikes - choose the smaller size. It is possible to make a smaller frame bigger (for example, by raising the saddle or fitting a longer the stem), whereas if the frame itself is too big for you, it’s likely to be less comfortable and won't feel right. eMTBs - choose the larger size. You’ll find an eMTB with a slightly larger frame easier to handle than one that feels cramped. You can always fit a shorter stem if necessary to reduce the reach to the handlebars.

How are ebike frame sizes measured?

An electric bike’s frame size is calculated by measuring the distance from the top of the seat tube (where the seat post inserts), to the centre of the front chainring. Sizing Guide
